Learn how to create the artistically torn photo frame in Adobe Photoshop by applying Brush Filter and Filter set in Artist Galley. The process is very simple and you can adapt this technique in several ways.

Let’s select a photo and I select the Giant Swing photo for this tutorial.

before

1. Select Image>Canvas Size or press Alt + Ctrl + C

2. Increase frame size. There are several options to increase the frame size (pixel, inch, percentage, etc). For this case, I use percentage by inputting 103 percent on both width and height which means increase the frame size by 3% of the original width/height.

3. I got the photo frame for my photo already.

3-get-the-border

4. Go to Layer Pallet, right click and select Duplicate Layer

5. Press OK

5-click-Ok

6. Go to Filter>Brush Strokes> Spatter

7. Adjust value until you are satisfied with the result. For this example, I use Spray Radius = 25, Smoothness = 5.

8. You will see the effect of Spatter applied on the photo.
